Whoa guys! Chili Cheese Dog Chili, it is a mouthful.
I wish, I only wish I could take credit for this beauty. Let me tell you what happened…
My wife was on Pinterest, looking at food. Typical. She spots this slow cooker chili cheese dog chili from 4sonrus.com. Hot dogs are not her number one food. Not even her #1000 food, but she knows how I love hot dogs. She shows it to me, reads the ingredients, and I’m so down. Let’s do this.
So yeah, the original recipe is done in the slow cooker. Perfect!
Just not for me, not on this day. I wanted it and I wanted it now!
“No worries,” she says. “I’m gonna throw it in the pressure cooker and see what happens.”
Rock on, so that’s what we did.
We did add a couple of things to the original recipe and removed a package of hot dogs from 2 packages down to one. My cholesterol can only take so much, you know?
But this recipe is all Meaghan’s at 4sonrus.com. Really great blog, I can’t wait to eat my way through some of her food. Guys, it’s like…a chili dog in a bowl. Low-carb if you will. Maybe Keto, maybe Paleo. I have no idea what I’m talking about – I have no clue what any of those diets are all about! 🙂
All I can say is, it’s quick, it’s delicious, and if I had to guess, your kids will love it! For instructions on how to do it in the slow cooker, go check Meaghan out!
CHILI CHEESE DOG CHILI – PRESSURE COOKER
INGREDIENTS
2 pounds ground beef, browned and drained
1 large white onion, chopped
1 bell green pepper, chopped
4 garlic cloves, minced
2 14 oz cans diced tomatoes, not drained
2 15 oz cans chili beans, not drained
2 tablespoons tomato paste
2 tablespoons ketchup
2 tablespoons barbecue sauce
2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1.5 heaping tbsp yellow mustard
3 tbsp chili powder
1/2 tsp cumin
3-4 teaspoons red wine vinegar
shake or two of your favorite hot sauce, optional
1 package (quantity 8) of beef hot dogs, I use Nathan’s, thinly sliced
minced white onion, for garnish
shredded cheddar cheese, for garnish
DIRECTIONS
Set your pressure cooker/Instant Pot to sauté. Add the ground beef, brown. If you have some grease down there, get it out either with a ladle or dump it in a colander. Add it back to the pot, along with everything else, saving some onion for garnish, if using. Give it a stir.
Stir. Press cancel on your pot and set the time for 11 minutes, high pressure. Let the pressure come down naturally.
Serve with onions and cheese, on a hot dog bun (yum!), or on a bed of Fritos!
NOTE** There’s so much chatter out in the interweb about pressure cookers and how long it takes to come to pressure and is it worth it and … blah, blah, blah. So I timed it for you guys. I left the sauté button on after I browned the meat. Then once everything was in and I hit the start button to pressure, it only took 9 minutes to come to pressure. That’s it. Now, if you’re using frozen stuff, it will take longer. If you don’t leave the sauté button on, it will take longer.
Kid-loving pressure cooker chili cheese dog chili! Perfect weeknight meal!Click To TweetThis thing right here. This will cut your prepping, chopping time by 3/4. Not even kidding. The wife said she ordered this gadget. I rolled my eyes. She said it will save her plenty of time. Whatever you want, I thought, because to be honest, she is the one who preps the veggies. And she cooks alot of veggie meals. So hey, if it saves time, go for it, but I had my doubts. I mean, it just seemed like another…gadget.
It freaking rocks! It’s sturdy, not some cheapo thing and it’s dishwasher safe. Love it!
Thanks for sharing at the What’s for Dinner party. Have a wonderful holiday!
Do you saute the onion and green pepper too, prior to pressure cooking? Thanks!
You can if you want to, but I didn’t.
I love good quality hot dogs. Also chili is delicious. Do you guys have a Doghaus Restaurant Out by you? We have one here in California and ridiculous good dogs! If you ever get the chance it’s a must!
My husband would LOVE this recipe! So many tasty ingredients!
This recipe is my husbands love language! Thank you for sharing this recipe over t Healthy Living Link Party. I will be featuring you tonight. We are back from our break and I hope to see you again.

Awesome! I don’t know what I would do without this pressure cooker! Thanks for sharing at Home Sweet Home! Merry Christmas!
I know right! If you have a pressure cooker, an air fryer, and a fire pit, you can basically get rid of your stove.
Approx. how many servings is this?
It makes a pot full! Servings, I would say 8. It’s hard to gauge because it’s just me and the wife. Although when we make it, we eat on it and still have enough left over to freeze a couple of quart size bags. Also, I guess it depends on how you’re gonna eat it. If you’re going to stuff it in a hot dog bun, you can feed a lot of people. If you’re going to enjoy it by the bowl, it depends on the appetite. I hope that helps.
I saved this recipe for the day I buy a Instant Pot. Thanks for sharing. #HomeMattersParty
I will have a large bowl full of all that goodness, please! I will just love your recipe, combines my love for chili and hot dogs! Hope you have a great week and thanks so much for sharing with us at Full Plate Thursday.

I’m all over this one and can’t wait to try it. Thanks for bringing this to Celebrate Your Story!
I don’t have a slow cooker, so when I see recipes using slow cooker, I don’t bother. I tell myself to forget about it. I have pressure cooker, though I haven’t thought of using it. This is such an amazing idea and the dish looks really good! Thanks for sharing at Fiesta Friday party! I hope you’ll have a chance to visit other party goers, too!
Just about anything you can put in a slow cooker you can put in the pressure cooker! Thanks for checking it out Jhuls! I will certainly be checking out all the great stuff at the party!
You and your wife sound like my husband and myself when it comes to our hot dog preferences! Thanks for sharing at The Blogger’s Pit Stop! Roseann from http://www.thisautoimmunelife.com
I really love hotdogs. I can’t explain it. lol My wife will shake her head and say, ‘You do realize that’s made of chicken lips and pig’s kneecaps.’

I am like the chili dog king. I will have to try this. Thanks for sharing.
King chili dog…let me know if you do! *bowing*
I have never experienced chili with hot dogs before. This sounds amazingly good, and something my husband would enjoy! Perfect for this cooler time of the year!
So good Natalie and quick!
You gave some great insight in this post, I really liked it! I LOVE hot dogs, so I might have to bring it back up to 2 packages. haha! This seems like a lot though. How many servings did it make?
It makes a lot! Easily to feed quite a few people! I don’t think it would be too much if you used 2 packages. If my wife wasn’t the cholesterol police I would definitely put two packages. Or at least a package and a half.
This recipe sounds so good in the Instant Pot. I love that there are hot dogs added to this chili!
Thanks for sharing this at Cooking and Crafting with J & J. I can’t wait to see your next recipe!
Saw this recipe over on Souper Sundays and was intrigued. This looks wonderful! Definitely something my family would love. Funny enough, we are partial to Nathan’s as well.
Got to have the Nathan’s! I’m sure your family will dig this!
Oh that chili looks so yummy! #TwinklyTuesday x
